When composing my published poetry and current poetic works, I construct meaningful and striking in-text combinations through multiple creative mechanisms: symbolic sound choices, illustrative syntactic organization, and attention to form when applicable. Poetry involves multi-media awareness to ensure any added visuals and reading technique enhance the written word.

Original poetry from my fall 2018 Techniques of Creative Writing course focused on incorporating well-placed enjambment to add layers of meaning and signal shifting points of view, strategically-placed punctuation and symbolic word choice, sound repetition to communicate emotion, and white space utilization and letter spacing to illustrate physical imagery and the relationship between internal and spoken dialogue. I've had poetry published in McLennan Community College's Spring 2018 edition of their literary journal, The Stone Circle. Out of my four original pieces published under the pseudonym Calena Eden, one poem, "Oceans Are Like Me," received Sigma Tau Delta recognition, an award for Excellence in Poetry.
